SEPTEMBER 2008 — in
stores July 15!
Summertime!
I'm often told that most quilters don't quilt during the summer
months. Judging by the record sales figures of last year's summer
issues, that just can't be true! For those of you who do quilt
from June through September, we've picked cool fabrics and colors
to go along with the warmer weather. For those of you who are
planning vacations and other activities, we've provided plenty
of ideas and inspiration!
I
myself am partial to blue colorways, so you'll find lots of
blue quilts in this issue, such as Southern Comfort
and Simply Square. We also have quite a few children's
quilts, including one based on a popular book, The Very Hungry
Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Would you like a take-along
project? Try our hand-embroidered table runner, which
uses reproduction feedsack fabrics.
No summer issue would be complete without something good to read. If you plan
to travel to the Great Lakes region this year, be sure to check out Lucy Fazely's
article about Harrisville, Michigan, and the Hollyhock Quilt Shoppe.
Please don't overlook Patricia Cummings' article either about New Hampshire quilt
historian Ellen Webster. Ellen re-created quilt designs on over two
hundred charts, which she used during lectures and talks she gave to various
organizations. Her work is nothing short of amazing!
We wish you all a wonderful summer, full of good times, good friends, and good
quilts. Have fun!
